About The Position

The Regional Applications Manager (RAM) is a field-based marketing and technical business developer responsible for creating new demand, uncovering opportunities, and driving solution selling within JPW’s five strategic end-user market segments: Manufacturing, Maintenance/MRO, Metal Fabrication, Government, and Higher Education. This is a hunter role focused on identifying, cultivating, and converting new business opportunities. The Regional Applications Manager builds relationships across customer organizations, from shop floor operators to executive decision-makers, leveraging technical credibility and application expertise to influence buying decisions and accelerate adoption. The RAM functions as the local execution arm of demand generation, aligning closely with Marketing to deliver targeted campaigns, hands-on demonstrations, and end-user education that creates demand, shapes purchase intent, and drives growth beyond existing customers. Ideal candidate to reside in the Houston/Dallas area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, applications, or business development roles in industrial/metalworking markets.
  • Proven track record of hunting for new business and growing a pipeline, not just managing existing accounts.
  • Strong technical knowledge of metalworking machinery and applications; able to translate technical concepts into end-user value.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage at multiple levels within end-user organizations—from operators and engineers to executives.
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce preferred), with disciplined follow-up and reporting.
  • Up to 50% overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and Develop New Business: Proactively identify, pursue, and cultivate new end-user accounts within assigned markets and territories.
  • Demand Creation: Execute multi-channel marketing campaigns in the field, generating fresh opportunities and building a strong sales pipeline.
  • Solution Selling: Conduct site assessments, application consultations, demos, and training that connect technical features to productivity, safety, and cost-saving benefits.
  • Technical Applications Expertise: Serve as the go-to technical advisor in metalworking (mills, lathes, saws, fabrication machinery), demonstrating hands-on credibility with end users.
  • Distributor & Sales Alignment: Partner with distributors and direct sales to accelerate opportunities but remain end-user focused and distributor-agnostic.
  • Field Intelligence: Provide actionable market insights to marketing, sales, and product management, highlighting unmet needs, competitor activity, and new product opportunities.
  • CRM Discipline: Maintain detailed tracking of leads, visits, events, and conversion metrics in Salesforce (or similar).
  • KPIs & Ownership: Consistently deliver against opportunity creation, conversion, and revenue goals through a hunter mindset and disciplined territory management.
