What you'll do... As a Food Science Innovation & Compliance Manager, you will support the development and execution of Walmart’s food science, innovation, and compliance programs by enabling safe, responsible product innovation. Our team translates food science and regulatory requirements into practical, business‑ready solutions, partnering closely with merchandising, sourcing, regulatory, sustainability, and suppliers. We proactively manage food safety, packaging, and chemical risks to help the business move efficiently while protecting customers and brand trust. Known for our collaborative, science‑based approach, we solve complex challenges where innovation, compliance, and execution intersect, while upholding strong ethical standards and regulatory expectations. Enable safe, compliant product innovation by leading food science risk assessments across ingredients, packaging, specifications, and emerging regulatory or chemical risks. Support new product launches, reformulations, and packaging changes by identifying and addressing risks early. Partner cross‑functionally with merchandising, sourcing, regulatory, sustainability, and supply chain teams to translate science into actionable guidance. Engage suppliers to validate data and compliance related to specifications and food‑contact materials. Monitor regulatory trends, conduct impact and gap analyses, manage compliance and ethics inquiries, develop standards and policies, and use data to drive continuous improvement and protect customer trust. What you’ll bring: A bachelor’s degree in food science or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred). 2–4 years of experience in food science, food safety, regulatory compliance, or compliance management within a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment. Broad knowledge of food safety principles, risk assessment, specifications, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to integrate across disciplines. Ability to monitor, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, and policies; identify compliance gaps; and recommend practical solutions. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills to support risk‑based decision‑making, regulatory forecasting, and continuous improvement, with an action‑oriented mindset grounded in ethics and customer trust.
