About The Position

The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is responsible for leading overnight production operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role oversees production personnel, ensures compliance with food safety and quality standards, and drives operational efficiency across the assigned shift. The supervisor manages daily production activities while coaching hourly employees to achieve production targets related to safety, quality, and productivity. This position collaborates closely with maintenance, quality assurance, scheduling, and warehouse teams to maintain smooth plant operations and deliver finished products on schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 4 or more years of supervisory experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience managing or directing a diverse unionized workforce.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and workplace safety programs.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Completion of Alchemy Safety Training .
  • Compliance with all GMP and regulatory requirements .

Nice To Haves

  • Dairy processing or dairy manufacturing experience.
  • Experience coaching and developing production employees.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to additional manufacturing systems or operational tools.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production employees and daily operations during the assigned shift.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely product delivery.
  • Monitor production metrics and key performance indicators and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Support plant initiatives and operational improvement projects aligned with facility goals.
  • Communicate production targets, updates, and performance metrics to the team.
  • Train, mentor, and develop production employees to maximize performance and engagement.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback to support employee development.
  • Address performance concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Promote a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Conduct shift startup checks and review shift pass down information from the prior shift.
  • Perform production floor walk throughs to monitor operations and identify issues.
  • Lead shift start meetings with production staff.
  • Monitor production lines to maintain operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Quality teams to quickly resolve equipment or process issues.
  • Ensure shift reporting and documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, GMP, HACCP, and workplace safety standards .
  • Lead safety meetings and participate in incident investigations when required.
  • Ensure SOX and regulatory documentation requirements are completed accurately.
  • Verify employees follow sanitation procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Work closely with production scheduling, warehouse, maintenance, and support teams to maintain seamless operations.
  • Support initiatives that improve production efficiency and operational reliability.
  • Review shift pass down notes and complete pre shift operational checks.
  • Walk the production floor to review equipment status and line readiness.
  • Lead shift start meetings with production employees.
  • Monitor production lines to maintain output and efficiency.
  • Address quality concerns or operational issues as they arise.
  • Ensure team members follow GMP requirements and safety procedures.
  • Provide coaching and direction to production associates.
  • Document shift results and communicate updates to leadership.
