About The Position

The Marketing and Events Director is one of four Managing Directors of Breitenbush Hot Springs. Working closely with the Business Director, the Finance Director, the Facilities Director, and the Board of Directors, the Marketing and Events Director areas of responsibility include: All aspects of marketing and advertising Development of the Breitenbush brand, which flows from the Credo, Mission Statement, and Land Acknowledgment Programming and management of events (workshops, retreats, conferences, and gatherings) Oversight and management of the Marketing and Events Team The Marketing and Events Director reports to the Business Director, and provides monthly reports to the Board of Directors. This position, along with the other Managing Directors, works to meet Key Performance Indicators related to projected occupancy numbers and related revenue and expense projections. The Marketing and Events Director is accountable to abide by Breitenbush’s Work Life Agreements and Community Life Agreements. The Marketing and Events Director must live and work collaboratively with teammates, other teams and fellow community members, and proactively seek to solve problems and resolve conflict.

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Marketing and business development experience
  • Event management and programming experience
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including G-Suite, social media, CRM databases, and website management
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Interest in holistic health and education
  • Ability to work at a computer for eight hours/day

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the execution of a marketing strategy
  • Conduct market research and identify target demographics
  • Work to diversify our clientele and create opportunities for marginalized communities to visit Breitenbush
  • Develop decision-making metrics and key performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness of Marketing and Advertising initiatives
  • Utilize guest feedback to improve marketing strategies
  • Develop and maintain a Customer Relationship Management program
  • Manage on-property Guest Communications
  • Manage the Breitenbush internet presence, including social media, web analytics and Search Engine Optimization
  • Manage Marketing initiatives across other channels including: printed materials radio advertising
  • Manage Breitebush’s library of Marketing Assets
  • Manage internal and external communications related to Marketing and Advertising
  • Work with the Managing Directors and Board of Directors to set pricing
  • Support development and execution of a fundraising strategy with the Managing Directors and Board of Directors
  • Develop a calendar of events and a faculty of presenters that supports the mission and brand
  • Solicit and evaluate event proposals from new presenters
  • Propose annual closed periods to the Board of Directors
  • Consider the inclusion of topics around Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the ongoing Climate Crisis
  • Develop, maintain, negotiate, and approve event contracts in conjunction with the Finance Director and Event Coordinators
  • Develop and manage the budget for all event services, marketing, and advertising
  • Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, and performance reviews of Marketing & Events team members
  • Work closely with the Marketing & Events Team to consult on issues as they arise in events
  • Maintain the events database and registration platform and other pertinent records
  • Manage guest registration pages in the reservation software to ensure a positive guest and presenter experience
  • Collaborate with team coordinators, Managing Directors and other staff to develop and implement brand-aligned policies, practices, and procedures focused on service and aesthetics to optimize guest experience
  • Address and resolve individual guest service issues, complaints, and guest behavior issues
  • Work to increase accessibility for guests from marginalized communities.
  • Stay up-to-date on outside agency rules and regulations pertaining to protected classes, and formulate proposals for policies and procedures to maintain compliance with relevant regulations
  • The Marketing and Events Director is a standing member of the Incident Management Team and is often called to take a leadership role in coordinating the response to and resolution of emergency incidents.
