About The Position

Are you passionate about art, storytelling, and creative communication? The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, WI, is seeking a Marketing Intern to join our dynamic Marketing team. In this hands-on role, you will help promote exhibitions, programs, and events while gaining real-world experience in museum marketing, graphic design, digital communications, public relations, and audience engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in how a cultural institution connects with its community and beyond.

Requirements

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in marketing, communications, art history, museum studies, or a related field.
  • A strong written and verbal communicator with an eye for detail.
  • Interested in art, museums, and cultural or nonprofit organizations.
  • Comfortable using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple projects.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to support/work with us at our nearby locations/events;

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Valid Drivers License

Responsibilities

  • Create and assist with engaging content for social media, email newsletters, and website.
  • Support marketing efforts for exhibitions, public programs, and special events.
  • Draft and edit copy, assist with image editing, and organize digital marketing assets.
  • Support on-site events through photography, videography, live posting, or visitor engagement.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing team as needed.
