The Material & Supply Chain Manager located in Gladwin MI is a member of the operations staff, responsible to plan, manage, and coordinate all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet changing levels of product demand while ensuring lowest cost of capital invested into inventory. This position will routinely report on department KPIs along with appropriate analysis and countermeasures where necessary. The qualified individual will continuously drive KPI improvements for inventory turns, inventory accuracy, and cost reductions. The qualified individual will be responsible for monitoring and adjusting inventory levels of all stock based on SIOP inputs from sales, capacity constraints, Supply Chain lead times and financial targets. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of ERP/MRP set up and will be a key user within our IT systems and tools to drive standardization and efficiency with the supply chain. The qualified individual will develop an appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost. Strong collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Engineering, Finance and Executive management will be critical to the success of this position.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Material Manager.
  • In-depth knowledge of Purchasing, Supply Chain and Inventory Management systems and controls.
  • Understanding of Forecasting.
  • Understanding of Budgeting.
  • Priority setting and time management skills.
  • Hands on ERP planning systems required.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Familiarity with Logistics, Transportation, Shipping and Receiving.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control
  • Proven ability to influence and drive measurable results.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to prioritize.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and is accountable for operating with fiscal operating budget.
  • Leads the supply chain team in executing best practices.
  • Assist in forecasting to plan future orders within the Covering Solutions Group in including all the Roll Rite, Pull Tarps, Vango locations.
  • Establishes Key Performance Indicators for measurement, comparison and evaluation of factors affecting supply chain and inventory. Utilizes this information to drive required change and achieve expected targets.
  • Perform supply demand analysis each month and highlight areas of concern for coming months.
  • Collaborates with corporate purchasing on key initiatives, participates and lead’s key team’s in various commodity strategy development, negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Keep detailed records on procurement activities, material quantity and material/supplies specifications.
  • Monitors the performance of Suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments and corporate leads.
  • Participate and provide updates during Daily GEMBA walk review.
  • Champion VAVE initiatives and establish procurement wins while working with support departments to achieve annual budgeted cost savings targets.
  • Create and run monthly SIOP meetings to capture inputs from all applicable departments regarding future forecast, market trends and customer requirements.
  • Work with Sales, Customer service and Production Planner daily to make delivery commitments based on current schedule load against production capacity.
  • Monitors and tracks requirements for intercompany transfers.
  • Develop and utilize appropriate data analytics to establish proper guidelines for ABC determination, ROP calculations, lead-times, and forward forecasting to optimize stock levels and minimize supply disruptions.
  • Maintain and enhance weekly Cycle Count procedures and processes at Covering Solutions Group in including all the Roll Rite, Pull Tarps, Vango locations.
  • Monitor and control inventory at target levels at Covering Solutions Group in including all the Roll Rite, Pull Tarps, Vango locations.
  • Oversee annual Year-End Physical Inventory planning at Covering Solutions Group in including all the Roll Rite, Pull Tarps, Vango locations.
  • Supports corporate contract compliance in areas of logistics, provides feedback on carriers, lanes, freight classification to provide best service to our customers.
  • Monitors and tracks all international shipments both inbound and outbound including freight costs, duties, tariff classification. Stays aware changes to tariff classifications and impact to business and communicates to appropriate management teams.
  • Leads and drives ERP system standardization and changes across the locations working closely with IT on creating best practices, documented training instructions, roll out plans and other project management tools.
  • Provide Supervision, leadership, support and mentoring to purchasing, planning and inventory personnel within Covering Solutions Group in including all the Roll Rite, Pull Tarps, Vango locations.
  • Develops subordinates through performance reviews, professional development and departmental training requirements, ensures all employees are aware and trained on company policies and procedures. Will be actively involved in utilizing proper HR tools and processes to complete these tasks and help determine compensation and staffing requirements and participate in hiring as required.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive with the HR Tools and processes.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean, 5S and Safety initiatives.
  • Assures compliance with OSHA, ISO and Corporate Safety and Housekeeping requirements and policies as well as Plant Safety Goals.
  • Provides additional support to other departments as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
