About The Position

Drive the daily movement of critical equipment and supplies across Duke University! Be You. Supervise the clerical and manual tasks involved in the receipt, verification, storage and issuance of equipment, materials and supplies in a Duke University stockroom or warehouse. Requirements

  • Education/Training - Work requires the ability to provide information, coordinate the work of other employees, prepare and maintain reports and files generally acquired through a high school education.
  • Experience - Work requires three (3) years’ experience in shipping/receiving or related setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running a stockroom or warehouse and keeping inventory organized and accurate.
  • Comfortable using inventory or ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems and pulling simple reports when needed.
  • Solid people skills — able to guide, schedule, and support a small team.
  • Familiar with safe handling, storage, and basic shipping/receiving practices; able to help coordinate campus deliveries and mail.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the clerical and manual tasks involved in the receipt, verification, storage, safekeeping and issuance of equipment, materials and supplies in a University stockroom or warehouse in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise handling of incoming and outgoing shipments, verification of new merchandise against purchase orders and invoices, price marking and transfer of merchandise according to requisitions.
  • Coordinate the delivery and pick up of interoffice mail.
  • Maintain outstanding order, purchase order and requisition files; conduct special and scheduled stockroom or warehouse inventories.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise the work of stockroom or warehouse personnel ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of tasks.
  • Research and recommend the ordering of equipment, materials and supplies as needed.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth stock turnover, new merchandise received, shortage or overstock of merchandise and damaged goods.
  • Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and vacation schedules.
  • Train new personnel.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
