About The Position

The Materials Analyst (Metallographer/Metals Lab Technician) reports to the Quality Supervisor and provides timely and accurate test results for mechanical and metallographic tests. This includes destructive evalations. These are necessary to support manufacturing by recommending in process sizes and tempers to arrive at desired properties in finished metal tubing products; initiate and coordinate flow of other laboratory tests; develop and update mechanical test procedures, etc. Position is for 3rd shift 12am-8am Monday-Friday. Weekend and daily overtime is available.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a metal manufacturing/testing environment
  • Experience in secondary metal working industry or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Hands on person with strong mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking skills.
  • Capable of processing and properly handling chemical such as acids, alkali and industrial cleaning agents.
  • Ability to develop test procedures and write procedures to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft products, as well as programs that process orders, retrieve order history, process history, etc.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to write test reports covering various technical aspects.
  • Able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Capable of functioning under stressful situations and a multi-task environment.
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Good people skills to deal with demanding requirements from Manufacturing, Sales, Quality Assurance, and other department personnel.
  • Must be able to sit up 50% of the time, stand up to 50% of the time, walking, lift up to 20lbs unassissted, hand and finger dexterity, vistion test required, talking and listening, some bending/stooping/crouching.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must observe all PPE requirements throughout the production area and Lab and follow all safety protocols

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or Continuing Education Credits in a science or engineering-related field a plus.
