About The Position

Horizons Colorado at Colorado Academy program seeks a part-time math interventionist for our elementary and middle school students for our 2025 summer program. HCCA offers an enrichment program designed for Denver Public School students from under-resourced communities. The tuition-free program runs for six weeks from June 15 through July 24, 2026 and emphasizes academic enrichment, social and emotional learning, cultural experiences and the arts, and health and wellness – including swimming. Teacher orientation, which is required, will be held on June 9-11, 2026. The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in mathematics. The Interventionist will provide individual or small group instruction to students who are in need of extra support with mathematics. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. Strong candidates enjoy differentiating curriculum in order to target specific learning goals, developing strong connections with students and staff through consistent and positive communication, and working closely and actively as a member of the Horizons team. The Math Interventionist will meet with students at least once a week. Candidates are encouraged to visit Horizons Colorado for more information about the HCCA program.

Requirements

  • Possession of Colorado Mathematics, Regular Education, or Elementary/Middle Level license at the appropriate developmental or grade levels of their students
  • Three years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrate an understanding and use of equitable and culturally responsive practices
  • Be able to pass a fingerprint and background check

Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual students
  • Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs
  • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
  • Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  • Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
  • Provides input for program development
  • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
