The Position: The Mechanical Engineer/Designer position is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical engineering tasks, including the research, development, planning, and design phases of mechanical systems and subsystems common to MEP consulting engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate Mechanical Engineers - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year university.
  • Mechanical Designer - Associate's degree (A. A.) in Drafting, Design, CAD from a two-year college or technical school and/or 1-3+ years of experience working with the application of all conventional aspects of electrical design related to design and installation of electrical power and lighting systems in office buildings, critical facilities, schools, healthcare facilities and/or related MEP Consulting Engineering.
  • Working familiarity and understanding of ASHRAE, NFPA, and International Building and Electrical Codes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit CAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to analyze needs and project requirements to assist in creating a design.
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Active listening skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment, primarily AutoDesk Revit and AutoCad.
  • Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals, to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Develop plans, schematics, schedules, and diagrams for mechanical equipment, ductwork, piping systems, and risers, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the use of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria such as ASHRAE, NFPA, International Building and Mechanical Codes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD), or drafting equipment and software.
  • Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
