About The Position

We are seeking a motivated early career Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of flight hardware development, from prototype through EDU/ETU to production level systems. You will join a high-tech team dedicated to unleashing the talents of engineers and technicians to solve complex aerospace challenges. Your primary focus will be on coordinating Assembly, Integration & Test campaigns for various missions. You will be responsible for creating procedures and work instructions that you will then lead technicians through and ensure conformity to verification and validation criteria.

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience working on spaceflight hardware AI&T campaigns or 1+ years with a M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in manipulating Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge on QMS systems, good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow complex requirement documentation driven by regulatory bodies.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interface directly with all facets of the company and customers.
  • Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Person (due to government contract requirements)

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI&T Campaign Execution: Develop, refine, and execute comprehensive Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) plans for spaceflight hardware, including procedures, travelers, work orders, and verification steps. Ensure all documentation adheres to engineering, programmatic, and customer requirements.
  • Author High-Quality Technical Documentation: Create detailed test plans, integration procedures, work instructions, and configuration records. Maintain documentation through controlled processes, ensuring traceability, accuracy, and compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
  • Coordinate Multi‑Disciplinary Schedules: Interface with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to coordinate build and test schedules. Drive cross-functional alignment to guarantee on-time delivery of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Hands-On Integration Support: Provide direct support on the production floor during build and test activities. Lead technicians through mechanical assembly steps, hardware mating, alignment activities, and functional test sequences while ensuring adherence to procedures and engineering intent.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Lead rapid response efforts with integrity when anomalies arise during integration or testing. Perform root-cause analysis, propose corrective actions, and document findings to prevent recurrence.
  • Requirements Interpretation & Compliance: Translate complex engineering requirements into actionable hardware controls, process steps, and verification criteria. Ensure system-level requirements are met through proper implementation of inspection, test, and documentation processes.
  • Support Design & Engineering Feedback Loops: Collaborate with design engineers to provide manufacturability and integration feedback. Participate in design reviews and help evaluate mechanical interfaces, tolerance stack-ups, and environmental considerations.
  • Test Readiness & Review Participation: Prepare and present integration status, readiness artifacts, and technical findings during internal and customer-facing reviews (TRRs, IRRs, MRBs, etc.).
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Recommend and help implement process improvements, tooling updates, documentation refinements, and workflow optimizations to increase quality, consistency, and efficiency across engineering and production activities.
