About The Position

Medical Assistant Apprenticeship (Locations: Hospital Campus, Odessa Brown Children's Center, Everett) Start date: April 27th 2026 Seattle Children’s Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program combines on the job training with online coursework and preparation for the national certification exam. The Apprenticeship Program is a benefit valued at $4850.00. Seattle Children’s considers this program an investment in employees who are preparing for a Medical Assistant position at Seattle Children’s. This investment in employee professional development is made with the expectation of employment with Seattle Children’s for approximately 24-months, during which timeframe the employee will meet the following expectations: · Complete 2000 hours of on-the-job training (paid work), 434 hours of online coursework, & clinical labs; · Prepare for the national certification exam (Seattle Children’s provides all training materials/supplies and national certification exam registration); and · Continue employment at Seattle Children’s for twelve (12) months as a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) at a minimum 0.6 FTE after passing the national certification exam.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in pediatric specialty care or urgent care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and perform individualized patient procedures, treatments, and tests under the supervision of an Apprenticeship Coach as required by state apprenticeship program standards.
  • Perform associated clerical tasks including chart preparation, stocking clinic supplies, and answering telephones.
  • Provide assistance with medical clinic operations and monitoring of clinic flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and maintain progress in all aspects of the apprenticeship program as required by state apprenticeship standards.
