About The Position

The primary purpose of the Medical Records Coordinator is to facilitate the maintenance of the participants’ medical record. Prioritizes, organizes and coordinates the acquisition of historical and current records of Senior Community Care participants (prospective and active) to meet regulations and the needs of staff.   Senior Community Care of North Carolina - PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.  PACE is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. Our team members include clinical professionals, personal care providers, van drivers, activity assistants and culinary employees among others. Unlike some clinical environments, PACE centers offer employees flexible work schedules, with most positions only requiring occasional weekends. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of one year of experience in working with the frail or elderly population.
  • Prior experience as a Medical Records Coordinator or administrative staff person with experience in an office setting
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
  • Good listening and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA, LPN/associate’s degree preferred
  • Working on projects and standard workload without a lot of supervision in health care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain discharge summaries for ED, Inpatient, and Rehab stays, and upload into the EMR.
  • Communicate with appropriate people as necessary for exchange of information, clarification and follow-up.
  • Use discretion to protect the confidentiality of information regarding employees, participants, or families.
  • Oversee the scanning of documents in the EMR in a manner that ensures accessibility of medical information to IDT members.
  • Request, obtain and make records available for IDT use for all potential enrollees.
  • Ensure release of information is authorized prior to distribution of records to requesting party.
  • Compile and send requested information to governmental entities when requested.
