About The Position

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) Location: Kansas City, Missouri Employment Type: Permanent Shifts: Days & Nights (Rotating Weekends) Compensation Base Pay: $30.04 – $41.50 per hour (based on experience) Estimated Annual Salary: $62,483 – $86,320 Shift Differentials: Night Shift Differential: + $4.00/hour Weekend Differential: + $4.00/hour Sign-On Bonus $30,000 – Night Shift (2-year commitment) $10,000 – Day Shift (2-year commitment) Facility Overview This position is with a large acute care hospital (500+ beds) that is part of a major regional healthcare system serving the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding communities . The hospital provides a wide range of medical services and specialty programs including: Women’s Services (Obstetrics & Fertility) Emergency Services Level I Trauma Care Stroke Care Services Orthopedic Services Chest Pain Center Breast Care Services Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Walk-in Clinic Services Position Summary The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) provides high-quality patient care to adult patients with a variety of medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurological conditions. The Med-Surg unit serves a diverse patient population, offering nurses the opportunity to expand clinical skills and knowledge while working in a fast-paced hospital environment. Typical Patient Population Includes: General post-surgical patients Urology patients Vascular surgery patients Stable trauma patients This facility operates as a Level I Trauma Center , and patients may present with higher acuity compared to standard Med-Surg units.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Acute Care RN experience
  • Acute care experience does not need to be recent
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Missouri RN License or Compact License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments in accordance with clinical protocols and standards of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide direct nursing care and monitor patient progress.
  • Supervise and guide non-licensed nursing staff.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and post-care needs.
  • Provide emotional support and coordinate care throughout the treatment process.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
