Requirements

• Minimum of a BS degree and specialized training to obtain certification as a Medical Technologist and licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
• Basic computer literacy is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Windows, word-processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and databases is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Blood Bank: Perform crossmatching techniques.
• Apply problem-solving skills and judgment in dealing with antibody challenges.
• Understand the indications for transfusion and ensure proper action before releasing products that do not meet criteria.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Quality Systems for good blood bank practices.
• Chemistry and Hematology: Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
• Apply knowledge of Quality Control processes.
• Maintain competency and assist the Core Lab Supervisor with additional tasks.
• Microbiology: Conduct routine collection, inoculation, and processing of all specimen types.
• Prepare and promptly interpret stains and smears according to departmental procedures.
