About The Position

A Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for listening to the dictation of voice recordings from medical providers and typing the recordings into the laboratory information system in a timely manner. These dictations will become a permanent patient record and may include specimen gross description, specimen microscopic description, and pathologist diagnosis. Transcription duties may also include any general purpose correspondence such as pathology consultation letters. Transcription is also responsible for auditing patient demographic information and making any necessary corrections. This position is primarily an off-site location or work-from-home position. Employees are responsible for following all Company policies and procedures. These policies and procedures will include adherence to CPD’s Work at Home Policy and regulatory standards such HIPAA, CAP and OSHA, including safety standards in performing all aspects of the functions below.

Requirements

  • MUST BE LOCATED IN ARIZONA
  • Hours: Monday-Friday evenings (approximately 4:00pm-10:00pm) with flexibility to discuss.
  • Must currently be located in AZ, USA
  • Must be proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Must possess detailed proofreading skills for auditing patient information and correcting any inaccuracies of information.
  • Must be familiar with proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terms and medical language to identify and correct errors and enter patient clinical history information into the patient record.
  • Must be familiar with transcription equipment that can include computers and software programs, word processing software, audio software, and foot pedal.
  • Attention to detail is required for quality assurance and precision to spot and correct errors that could impact patient care and medical liability.
  • Must maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision; ability to self-direct.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Level I: less than 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Level II: 4-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Level III: 8+ years of relevant work experience
