About The Position

A leading acute care hospital in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Microbiology Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations and lead a high-performing microbiology team. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining quality standards, and supporting operational excellence in a high-volume hospital laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in microbiology along with proven supervisory experience in a hospital or central laboratory setting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry
• National Certification as a Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP or equivalent) – Required
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Microbiology Technologist
• Experience in a high-volume hospital or central laboratory setting – Required
• Stable employment history preferred (no significant employment gaps)

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree – Preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily microbiology laboratory operations and staff
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and competency assessments
• Monitor team performance and conduct coaching and evaluations
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Joint Commission (JCAHO), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
• Oversee quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs
• Collaborate with the Medical Director to maintain departmental policies and quality metrics
• Lead and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure adherence to hospital safety and infection control standards
