About The Position

St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Science Teacher. Responsibilities Plan class activities/labs and lesson presentations that are appropriate for the class grade level and meet the individual needs, interests, and ability levels of all students. Design, plan, and implement inquiry-oriented Middle School Science lessons that motivate students and create active, phenomena-based learning experiences. Encourage middle school-aged students to think deeply about the curriculum, themselves, and the world around them through a lens of scientific inquiry Manage all classroom responsibilities, including designing and implementing a hands-on, interdisciplinary curriculum, differentiating instruction to meet all learners' needs, and utilizing various approaches to teaching and assessing students. Prepare and implement assessments that meet the needs of every student Utilize a variety/range of student learning modalities in each lesson and ensure differentiated instruction within those lessons Assess student strengths and weaknesses frequently and provide appropriate activities to address student needs. Ensure high-quality report writing and communication. Collect data on student progress, write reports, hold parent conferences, and meet with administrators and other faculty to support the needs of individual students. Work collaboratively with the division, department, and grade-level team(s) to shape and refine the curriculum. Build relationships with all students so they are actively engaged in classroom activities. Create and maintain a safe, well-structured physical environment that is conducive to student learning. Other Duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Science or education required.
At least three years of relevant classroom teaching experience.
Ability to teach multiple levels of science.
Ability to work well with students, parents, and all members of the community.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate improved learning, habits, and measurements of achievement.
An active curiosity about children and their success.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
