About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and mission driven leader to serve as the Financial Management (FM) Portfolio Director for the Military Health System account. This role is suited for a senior financial management professional or former military health service comptroller with demonstrated expertise in the Military Health System and a passion for creating meaningful impact across the Defense Health Agency and wider enterprise. The Financial Management Portfolio Director will oversee a diverse portfolio of financial management engagements supporting the Military Health System, including military treatment facilities, Defense Health Agency components, and service medical departments. This leader will shape client strategies, guide delivery teams, and expand our presence across military health Financial Management missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; FOUR (4) years of additional professional experience in lieu of Bachelor's
  • Direct experience with Military Health System programs to include MHS GENESIS
  • Strong understanding of the Defense Health Agency and military health programs and priorities
  • Ability to structure and lead teams to deliver high impact
  • Established networks and existing relationships within the Military Health System, especially at the senior military and civilian stakeholder levels
  • Strategic thinking skills for translation of financial management challenges into actionable insights and solutions
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and advisory skills
  • Demonstrated success in business development, capture management, and client relationship management
  • Primary location within the National Capital Region or San Antonio, Texas

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in consulting sales and/or capture
  • Master of Business Administration or other related advanced degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Management and Revenue Cycle Engagements: Lead all financial management initiatives within the Military Health System, ensuring client value, delivery excellence, and measurable financial improvement.
  • Oversee revenue cycle optimization, cost recovery, revenue integrity, audit-readiness, reimbursement strategy, and financial performance initiatives across military treatment facilities and Military Health System organizations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the Defense Health Agency and Services, helping them navigate financial management transformation, process improvement, data analytics, and organizational modernization, reinforcing our reputation as a mission-focused partner.
  • Advise clients on Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution processes across the Military Health System by providing guidance on budgeting and program execution at military treatment facilities, service medical headquarters, and/or Defense Health Networks.
  • Manage multidisciplinary delivery teams, oversee portfolio financials, provide staff development, and contribute to overall account strategy and growth.
  • Drive Military Health Financial Management Business Development and Growth: Lead the development, expansion, and long‑term strategy of the military health financial management line of business, including pipeline creation, capture management, client relationship expansion, and solution development.
  • Understand Military Health System and Defense Health Agency market demands, priorities, acquisition lifecycle, and contracting strategies and mechanisms.
  • Proactively identify and qualify Military Health System financial management opportunities aligned with our capabilities and growth strategy.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, program offices, and acquisition authorities.
