SummaryContributes to the safe, efficient operation of the grain facility by assisting in the daily operation of a variety of milling equipment and the completion of routine duties and required maintenance.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following, other duties may be assigned: Assists in daily maintenance and repairs of all terminal facilities, and diagnosing and repairing equipment for continual operation of the terminal. Assists in maintaining the terminal’s physical property which may include but is not limited to the following duties: cleanup of grain spillages, performing bin sweeps, and general maintenance and housekeeping of the office and all other terminal facilities. Operates computerized inventory system daily to load outbound trucks with product, communicating with drivers and operations personnel as necessary.  Verifies contract availability and applies weights to open contracts.  Provides drivers with outbound scale ticket, generates Bill of Lading and communicates daily transfers to Commodity Manager.  Assists in measuring and calculating physical inventory.  Reconcile physical inventory to system inventory. Monitors and tracks rail shipments from point of origin to destination by performing duties such as:  obtaining billing dates for new purchases, monitoring progress toward destination, coordinating resources for receipt of commodity with Mill Supervisor, monitoring available storage, insuring appropriate storage, applying commodities received against contract, verifying weights and grade, and completing required communication at time cars are released.  Assists in unloading trains as necessary.

Requirements

  • One to three years’ experience in milling or grain handling operations; or one year certificate from college or technical school in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute and apply rates, ratios, and percentages in practical situations.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Windows based computer applications.
