About The Position

Valiant is looking for a Mission Support Contract Safety Specialist to join our team! ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs duties in the Office of the Program Manager (OPM) for a large and diverse organization with over 1,200 employees under contract to the US Army. Ensures compliance across the Mission Support Contract (MSC) with all federal, state and local Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) directives and regulations. Conducts routine and appointed safety inspections and assists with accident and incident investigations as directed. Works closely with subordinate managers to conduct safety audits in all functional areas. Monitors work environments and provides advice and recommendations for improvement of the safety program and overall safety culture. Responsible for MSC-level safety and health training programs and recordkeeping. Monitors the planning, organization, direction and presentation of education and training courses in occupational safety and health matters for subordinate branches. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • SECURITY REQUIREMENT: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, Active Secret preferred.
  • Associates Degree or Professional Military Education equivalent.
  • Formal training in OSHA General Industry Safety and Health Standards.
  • Ability to pass OSHA 501 General Industry Outreach Trainer Course
  • 2+ years experience in safety related duties in an organization of comparable size and complexity; prior military.
  • Must be able to travel alone throughout the continental US and foreign countries.
  • Individual must submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening; will be subject to random drug screening.
  • Able to work irregular schedules consistent with organizational requirements.
  • Have a valid state driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 500 or higher course completion (ex. OSHA 500, 511, 2455, etc)
  • JRTC experience.
