Mitigation Specialist

About The Position

As a Mitigation Specialist, you’ll be the go-to expert for complex, escalated emergency services mitigation files, with a strong focus on non-preferred vendor invoices and disputes. You’ll leverage your technical mitigation knowledge, IICRC best practices, and negotiation skills to drive fair, defensible, and timely resolutions. This role is ideal for seasoned adjusters or mitigation specialists who want to apply their field expertise in a fully remote, high-level resolution role—without stepping away from the technical rigor that defines your career.

Requirements

  • Active Property & Casualty Adjuster license
  • WTR required
  • IICRC certification (ASD strongly preferred)
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with water mitigation, emergency services, complex mitigation billing or field adjusting experience
  • Proven success negotiating escalated or disputed mitigation invoices, including non-preferred vendors
  • Advanced understanding of IICRC standards, drying science, and mitigation best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills—comfortable in assertive, resolution-driven conversations
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency with Xactimate, XactAnalysis, CoreLogic, or similar estimating platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of escalated mitigation and emergency services invoices, particularly from non-preferred or out-of-network vendors
  • Analyze scopes, moisture mapping, drying plans, equipment usage, and pricing for accuracy and compliance with IICRC standards
  • Negotiate disputed mitigation charges using technical justification, policy application, and industry best practices
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with vendors, attorneys, and internal partners during high-friction conversations
  • Resolve complex mitigation billing efficiently while protecting claim outcomes and expense integrity
  • Partner with Claims, Legal, QA, Subrogation, and Training teams on high-exposure or litigated mitigation files
  • Participate in or lead special projects, initiatives, and training efforts based on individual readiness, assignment volume, and evolving business needs, contributing to continuous improvement across the Mitigation and Shared Services teams.
  • Partner with claims adjusters and internal stakeholders to coordinate, support, or provide guidance on mitigation related aspects of claims when needed, helping ensure timely resolution and accurate outcomes.
  • Support the Shared Services mission by promoting consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in mitigation claim handling—helping protect customers, control costs, and enable scalable, high quality service across the organization.
