Overview of Role: The Network Administrator (Journeyman) installs, configures, and maintains LAN, WAN, NIPRNet, and SIPRNet network systems across Department of Defense installations. Key responsibilities include administering core network services such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, TACACS+, and RADIUS; managing user and device accounts; maintaining switch and router configurations; and applying software patches and firmware updates. The role also provides on-site technical support to users and government IT staff, assists with network documentation, supports training of government personnel, coordinates configuration changes with engineering staff, and offers on-call support as required to meet operational needs.
