About The Position

As a Network Engineer I you will be responsible for supporting Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) implementations and resolving issues in a complex corporate network environment. You will work on maintaining, monitoring, and upgrading network infrastructure to ensure seamless operations across multiple sites and platforms. This entry-level role requires a foundational understanding of network systems, a keen interest in network security, and the ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field. Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
  • FAA Class III Medical Certification required. Candidates without current certification must obtain it prior to hire
  • Ability to complete Altitude Chamber training and qualification
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and services [e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)].
  • Familiarity with networking switching equipment and systems.
  • Familiarity with wireless and Virtual Private Network (VPN) implementations.
  • Familiarity with AI in troubleshooting network issues.
  • An Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • Experience with SWAN technologies.
  • Exposure to network security practices and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of network related tools, concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to Fiber Optics and Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP).
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), DNS, DHCP, and wireless.
  • Hands on experience with network hardware - installing, configuring and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with network automation platforms.
  • Conceptual understanding of zero trust networking principles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Use network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems, including hardware and software issues.
  • Provide technical support to end-users and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Assist in configuring and installing network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of wireless networks.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Generate reports on network performance and incidents.
  • Assist in implementing network security measures, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
  • Ensure network compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT staff to support network projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
