About The Position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a qualified candidate for the Network/System Administrator position. This role supports Department of Defense (DoD) classified programs by assisting with the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications, to ensure secure and reliable operations within classified environments. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in system and network administration, including supporting LAN/WAN systems, troubleshooting technical issues, preparing systems for deployment, and assisting with vulnerability mitigation as new IT capabilities are established. Basic knowledge of system architecture, security protocols, and disaster recovery processes is preferred. Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and compliance requirements, including JSIG and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards, is beneficial. The candidate will work closely with ISSMs, ISSOs, and ISSEs to help maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission systems.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret with SCI eligible
  • 3+ years of relevant Department of Defense (DoD) experience supporting IT operations or cybersecurity activities
  • 9+ months of experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environments
  • Willing and able to complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI Polygraph)
  • Basic experience supporting the daily management, operations, and maintenance of systems and networks, including cybersecurity tasks within Collateral, SCI, and SAP environments, ensuring compliance with JSIG and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards
  • Experience using daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operations and maintenance (O&M) checklists, and assisting with the development and maintenance of TTPs and SOPs to improve operational efficiency
  • Ability to support enterprise SIEM tools, including configuring alerts, generating reports, and monitoring security events and potential incidents
  • Assist with evaluating technical risks related to cybersecurity tools, configurations, and procedures, and contribute to incident response and remediation activities
  • Support assessments of the security posture of servers, network devices, and security appliances to ensure proper configuration and performance
  • Experience assisting with management of COTS and GOTS cybersecurity solutions to track and improve system security and operational performance metrics
  • Basic understanding of network architecture and infrastructure, supporting network modeling, analysis, and system upgrade planning
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, virtualization platforms (Hyper-V/VMware), firewalls, IDS/IPS, scripting, and database security
  • Working knowledge of security tools such as SIEM platforms, ACAS/Nessus/SCAP, and LogRhythm
  • Ability to work effectively in secure, fast-paced environments with supervision
  • Experience collaborating with Information System Security Managers (ISSMs), Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), and Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs) to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission systems
  • Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree
  • Be able to obtain applicable DODM 8140 certifications as appropriate

Nice To Haves

  • Must meet Information Assurance Technician Level I certification requirements via one of the following certifications CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIASecurity+, or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Tier 1 end-user technical support, responding to requests via phone, email, and in person
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, including password resets, printer support, and user account creation
  • Assist with workstation and peripheral setup, including installation and configuration of commercial software
  • Document, track, and monitor support requests to ensure timely resolution and accurate ticket management
  • Provide support across multiple network classification levels in secure environments
  • Assist with monthly vulnerability scans and local patching activities that cannot be completed through automated Group Policy updates
  • Support basic server and network switch maintenance
  • Assist with COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) duties and responsibilities during the stand-up of new facility operations
