About The Position

Harris Health System is the public healthcare safety-net provider established in 1966 to serve residents of Harris County, Texas. Johnson Hospital (Level 3 Trauma Center) anchor Harris Health’s network of clinics, health centers, specialty locations, and virtual (telemedicine) services. The Telehealth Neurologist provides specialized neurological care through remote consultation services for incarcerated adult patients within the Harris County Jail. This part-time role includes conducting virtual evaluations and managing neurological conditions such as seizures, headaches, neuropathies, and movement disorders using secure telehealth platforms. The Neurologist collaborates closely with on-site nursing staff and primary care providers to deliver timely, evidence-based recommendations that support continuity of care in a correctional setting.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Valid Texas Medical License
  • Board-Certified Adult Neurologist (completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology Fellowship)
  • Active DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) License
  • Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
  • Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)
