The Wake County Child Support Office seeks a professional, highly organized, dependable, customer friendly, detailed oriented, flexible, team player to join our Team as our team Office Assistant. We partner with federal and state agencies, community organizations, and employers to promote parental responsibility. Our goal is not only to help children receive the support they need and deserve from parents, but to share resources with parents to address barriers preventing the payment of support. Wake County provides services to custodians of minor children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and cash and medical support obligations; enforcing and modifying support orders; and collecting and distributing child support payments. The legal, court, and financial related duties of the Child Support Program require a high degree of accuracy. The Office Assistant position performs administrative duties of a responsible and confidential nature for a large staff in a fast-paced environment. By working as a team player this position is expected to produce quality work with close attention to detail. It will independently perform a moderate variety of tasks within specific work guidelines. Most of the time is spent performing administrative duties for a functional team of 11, to include an Assistant County Attorney in a fast-paced environment. The position requires general knowledge of office practices and procedures to review, verify, complete, and record general information in the Automated Collections Tracking System (ACTS). Duties within the public contact function involve interaction with clients, other employees and the public to gather, relay, and explain information to establish and update records or to determine eligibility for services. Note: Pre-employment professional reference checks will be conducted; and an SBI fingerprint submission, and state and national criminal history check are required. A conviction record does not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment unless otherwise required by state law. Each situation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Wake County Social Services employees are required to actively support and participate in departmental emergency preparedness and response activities, which may include temporary changes in work responsibilities and hours.
