We are seeking an Operations (Value Stream) Manager in our Middlefield, CT location.   As an Operations (Value Stream) Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled associates in the manufacturing of ultra-precision components. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, safety, quality, supply chain, material planning, and other production to drive end-to-end delivery from order creation to customer acceptance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline, with 5-8 years' experience operating within a complex technical manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years' experience leading and managing a team in operations environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to develop and drive operational plans.
  • Knowledge of business finance linking financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading operational transformation combined with organizational, communication and leadership skills to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals at all levels.
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve results.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products for the purpose of data analysis and preparing presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt or equivalent Lean Manufacturing Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team toward achievement of daily and long-term key performance indicators tied to financial and operational metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the value stream at all levels and function as liaison with other functions and external customers.
  • Provide strategic direction for value stream including long and short-range resource planning (labor, equipment) to ensure effective and profitable line function, adjusting to changing customer or business needs as required.
  • Ensure EHS compliance is part of everyday activities while working cooperatively with the EH&S Manager to improve employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
  • Execute manufacturing schedules based on information and requirements to plan production on-time delivery of products while meeting quality standards, and at the lowest possible cost.
  • Achieve and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the internal and external customer. Ensure quick resolution and risk mitigation of any issues related to achieving Customer schedule.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing efforts to improve established metrics.
  • Lead process improvement efforts that achieve highly capable processes and world class yield rates.
  • Communicate and collaborate across the organization to gain information, receive feedback or suggestions, and to provide updates and information.
  • Supervise production employees, including talent selection, performance management, required discipline, and employee development, ensuring compliance to legal and company requirements.
  • Report and pro-actively escalate issues to senior management that may impact business objectives.
