About The Position

OPS ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES DIVISION OF AGRICULTURAL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY--THIS IS A FULL-TIME OTHER PERSONAL SERVICES (OPS) POSITION

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and five (5) years of administrative or clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals five (5) years can substitute for the above requirements; or
  • A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of administrative experience; or
  • A master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to use a personal computer.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as receptionist for Pest Control Licensing Section of the Bureau of Licensing and Enforcement by directing telephone calls to employees. Assist incoming visitors as needed and direct to appropriate staff. Perform these duties according to established policies and procedures.
  • Handle all incoming mail for the Pest Control Licensing Section. Open, review, date stamp and log in all incoming mail and monies and distribute within the bureau according to established policies and procedures.
  • Handle correspondence for the section. Type correspondence, folders, labels, licenses, spreadsheets, etc. Scan and index incoming paperwork. Maintain alphabetical files for records. Perform these duties as directed by supervisor and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Update, transmit, retrieve, and change information to records in applicable data bases. Perform these activities in accordance with established policies and procedures and with designated databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
