About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Optical Shop Team Leader to oversee the daily operations of our Optical Shop and support the Optometrist and Health Center Manager in delivering high-quality, patient -centered eye care. This role combines team leadership, patient service, and retail optical expertise . The ideal candidate will guide staff, assist patients with eyewear selection, manage inventory and sales performance, and ensure an exceptional patient experience from start to finish. The Team Leader plays a key role in advancing DVCH’s mission by providing accessible, compassionate vision care to our patients. Must be able to present a positive, enthusiastic, and tolerant demeanor while directly working with patients and other staff members.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail optical shop environment
Proficient in optical dispensing software and inventory management systems
Bilingual in Spanish required
Ability to stand for extended periods; occasional lifting to 25 lbs

Optical dispensing certificate preferred

Responsibilities

Ensure accurate billing, insurance eligibility and processing, and payment collection
Manage inventory of frames, lenses, and contact lenses, including ordering, stock replenishment, and maintaining vendor relationships
Supervise and support Optical Shop staff, including training and mentoring team members
Role model and engage in all steps of Patient/Customer journey, as well as supervise and redirect associates in exam lane and sales floor
Manage optical lab ordering, flow of orders to and from the lab
Educate patients on various options for both clear lenses, sunglasses, and any other needs the patient may have
Address patient inquiries or concerns with empathy and professionalism
Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, other team members and administration
