About The Position

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Schedules return appointments and initiates phone reminders to patients prior to appointment. Completes monthly recall lists as assigned. Schedules referral appointments as needed. (75%) Performs tasks as needed for the overall operation of the optical department including, but not limited to (10%): a. Assisting patients with eye wear selections. b. Ensure frame and lens selections agree with the patient’s prescription, comfort, and insurance coverage. c. Accurately measure pupillary distance, base curve, optical centers, and multi-focal measurements to ensure prescription accuracy. d. Adjust and dispense eyewear. Perform frame repairs as needed. e. Effectively explain to patients the proper usage and cleaning instructions of their frames/lenses. Checks in lens and frame orders from external labs. Ensure lenses are within ANSI tolerance range prior to dispensing. (5%) Performs special testing of patients as ordered by optometrist including visual fields, optical coherence tomography, and fundus photography. (5%) Maintains contact lens sets. Orders trials as needed, traying special order trials prior to patient appointment, and prepping patient supply orders for dispense. Attend department and company meetings as necessary. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma. Undergraduate studies with Pre-Optometry track. Preferred 1 year of optometry program completed. Licensure: N/A Experience: None required. Experience within an optical retail setting preferred. Skills: Clear and professional communication skills. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. and utilize criticism when given. Organizational and technical skills. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with patients, peers, support staff, and clinical leadership. Physical Effort: Ability to consistently stand, sit, and walk throughout the entirety of a workday. Lift less than 25 pounds on occasion. Hours: Full-time; flexible and varied. Travel: Not required for this position.
