About The Position

Responsibilities: Perform daily functions related to providing care to patients of the community; actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communication; behaves in a manner consistent with the mission of COMC. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Takes vital signs and documents all information correctly Gathers and documents initial patient subjective data, reason for visit, and uses correct template. Reconcile medications at every patient visit, adding and deleting as needed Asks all pertinent questions for quality measures as required and documents correctly to ensure accurate QI data Conducts testing prior to the provider’s evaluation Prepare examination room and ensure the room is cleaned, stocked and organized Prepare and perform diagnostic testing as directed by the provider Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care as needed Adjust and repair frames as needed Promptly assists provider in patient care as requested All patient exam/procedure rooms are cleaned in compliance with COMC Infection Control Policy and in a timely manner Stocks rooms and pulls expired supplies Received and handles patient’s medical-related phone calls, relaying information to patients, as directed by provider. Documents in the medical records all information relayed Obtains consent for procedures/injections. Gathers all supplies as needed Monitor and complete assigned provider task list in a timely manner Correctly sterilizes instruments and ensures sufficient supplies are available for procedures Make good use of downtime by working the downtime task list Reviews and understands policies/protocols and adheres to them Passes annual skills competency Assists with set up, break down, and daily operation of the Mobile Optometry Unit. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly prior to clinic operations. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and infection control standards within the mobile unit Help coordinate patient flow to maintain efficient clinic operations and production metrics Maintain and calibrate optometry equipment according to manufacturer and clinic guidelines Monitor and maintain supply inventory for the mobile clinic. Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to appropriate staff Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives Perform other duties as assigned to support mobile clinic operations

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable using computer hardware and software as well as computerized equipment.
  • Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Central Ozarks Medical Center.
  • Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards.
  • Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding medical records and laboratory procedures.
  • Must be CPR/BLS certified or become certified during probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC.
  • GED or High School diploma.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate general health guidelines, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from patients and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Employee should have valid Missouri driver’s license.

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Optometry Technician certification preferred.
  • Previous clinic experience preferred.
