In this role, you’ll design innovative training programs that empower professionals across the state. From interactive virtual courses to dynamic instructor-led sessions, you will craft engaging materials that make learning meaningful and effective.   What You Will Do:   Lead the way in learning design: Develop and enhance programs using best practices in instructional design and adult learning. Drive collaboration: Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create high-quality, relevant content. Leverage technology: Use cutting-edge tools and platforms to boost learner engagement and improve outcomes. Manage projects with precision: Oversee timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure success. Keep systems running smoothly: Maintain training data in the LMS and provide technical support for learning platforms. Shape statewide standards: Assist in updating policies and aligning programs with strategic objectives. Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry concepts and practices relating to adult learning theories and instructional design.
  • Knowledge of principles of effective design for in-person and virtual training projects.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of surveying to research and gather actionable data.
  • Skill in using Microsoft SharePoint and Teams; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and specialized design software (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Skill in designing and developing curriculum.
  • Skill in managing self and taking pride to provide exceptional customer service by responding with a sense of urgency, practicality, accountability, and integrity.
  • Skill in working in a dynamic environment that requires critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • Skill in effective communication; both verbal and written.
  • Skill in producing and organizing supporting materials.
  • Skill in researching, compiling, analyzing, and reporting on data to report findings and develop improvement solutions.

  • Four years of professional or nonprofessional experience in instruction, instructional design, curriculum development, adult education, performance improvement, or organizational or staff development.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance learning and development programs, processes, and supporting materials (e.g. program implementation and training guides, process communication tools, job aids, presentations, video, multimedia) for the adult learner to be used with different media and delivery options: instructor-led, virtual, interactive web-based, self-study, and assessment products.
  • Ensure programs and materials reflect best practices in instructional design and adult learning.
  • Create and maintain project timelines and monitor completion of milestones & deliverables for areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (SMEs, advisory groups, etc.).
  • Research information for the purposes of developing new and enhancing existing programs that meet organizational development objectives.
  • Utilize a wide range of instructional technologies to enhance curriculum design and development, creating engaging learning materials and completing projects that improve instructional quality, increase learner engagement, and support measurable learning outcomes.
  • Input training sessions and supporting information into the Department's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Update training advertisements, registration and completion information in the LMS.
  • Provide customer service and technical support for all ODO technology platforms and on behalf of related ODO business practices.
  • Collaborate with other FDOT offices and vendors to resolve complex challenges as they arise and share best practices.
  • Assist the Organizational Development Office in reviewing, updating, and implementing policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to ensure alignment with statewide training objectives.
  • Support the development, distribution, and execution of training manuals and programs, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Assist with ODO’s strategic goal of fostering a data-driven culture that leverages ODO technology platforms and data to maximize professional development and employee engagement opportunities.
  • Collect, prepare, analyze, interpret, and communicate data from a variety of sources to aid in various ODO business processes, workflows, projects, and initiatives.
