About The Position

CGS is looking for an OSC Chief of Fires to support the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS. As the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) Operational – Strategic Command (OSC) Chief of Fires , you'll develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of plans and procedures for clients, creating rich content to help you tell a realistic story. You'll listen to client challenges and identify threats, gaps, or risks that need to be explored and provide a safe space for recommendations that will make lasting, real-world impact. As a leader in the firm's Army Sector , you'll have the chance to work cross-functionally with planners and scenario developers on projects that are making an impact on critical missions. You'll share your expertise and collaborate with the industry's best trainers and coaches.

Requirements

  • Experience as a U.S. Army field artillery field grade officer, warrant officer, or non-commissioned officer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Army and Joint regulations and current doctrine.
  • Ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 5% of the time)
  • One or more of the following: BS/BA degree with 5 years of military experience or High School and 10 years of military experience.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree.
  • Military Education Level (MEL) 4
  • Experience as a former field grade officer, warrant officer, or sergeant major.
  • Successfully served in a key developmental position at brigade/battalion level.
  • Combat Arms experience.
  • Experience with Constructive Simulation Models (e.g., Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC), Warfighters Simulation (WARSIM)
  • Experience with FM 7-100 series OPFOR doctrine.
  • Experience working with the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the OPFOR military decision-making process to develop OPFOR competitive Operations Orders.
  • Support the military OPFOR Commander and contractor Chief of Staff.
  • Is the OPFOR's chief of the fires warfighting function lead and is responsible for integrating and synchronizing fires for the OPFOR Commander.
  • Lead development and execution of OPFOR fires plans, procedures, and training content that support division and theater-level scenario objectives.
  • Conduct liaison with Integrated Fires Work Area on fires integration, precision munitions, ammunition allocations, counter-fire assets, quick-fire channel procedures, FASCAM minefields, and air support.
  • Execute the WCOPFOR Commander's instructions/orders for assets controlled by the Integrated Fires Command (IFC).
  • Coordinate with OPFOR Commander on control of Threat Theater Command level assets firing in support of adjacent OSCs and echelons above corps (EAC) entities.
  • Supervise Theater Air Defense execution as directed by the OSC and deploy allocated AD systems to support the OPFOR Commander's plan to preserve combat power and ensure freedom of maneuver.
  • Attend Battle Update Assessment (BUA) in the OSC CP.
  • Recommend targets and fire support courses of action to the WCOPFOR Commander.
  • Ensure communications links route radar and request-for-support messages to the correct indirect fire support elements and headquarters.
  • Deploy artillery target detection systems (CFR, Sound Flash, Artillery Reconnaissance) doctrinally and ensure operational status IAW the OPORD.
