About The Position

The Outreach Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support across multiple community-based outreach sites that serve diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, residents of sober living facilities, community resource centers, schools, domestic violence shelters, churches, and other designated community locations. The Outreach Medical Assistant (MA) is expected to maintain a high level of flexibility and adaptability, working in mobile environments and supporting additional clinic locations such as the Corporate Center, Decatur, and MLK clinics as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association - required
  • Fluency in English and Spanish – required
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license with a clean driving record - required
  • Must be 25 years of age or older and meet organizational insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Office Laboratory Assistant certification (within 30 days of hire) - required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent - required
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited program or school - required

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in primary care or outreach settings – preferred
  • National Medical Assistant Certification (RMA, CCMA, etc.) - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care services in various outreach settings and mobile environments.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as vitals, point-of-care testing, immunizations, specimen collection, and other MA-scope duties.
  • Maintain readiness to support Corporate Center operations, Decatur, and MLK clinics as directed.
  • Prepare and pack clinical supplies daily to ensure full readiness for mobile outreach activities.
  • Perform and document required daily CLIA compliance activities, such as. Recording laboratory and refrigerator temperatures and conducting and documenting quality control checks on CLIA-waived tests, including A1C, HIV, urinalysis, influenza, pregnancy, and strep.
  • Ensure all testing practices meet regulatory standards and organizational protocols.
  • Make outgoing and receive incoming patient phone calls, including follow-ups, scheduling, and coordination of care
  • Communicate and coordinate with external agencies such as hospitals, laboratories, radiology centers, and medical supply vendors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Pack, stock, and transport medical supplies and equipment needed for daily outreach routes.
  • Maintain accountability for mobile outreach inventory and ensure operational readiness.
  • Provide services across varied locations serving vulnerable and high-need populations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel to any assigned outreach site.
  • Support mobile care operations, including setup and breakdown of clinical spaces.
  • Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
