Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part-Time Transportation Assistant - Brooklyn. In this role, the successful candidate Driver provides transportation for participants to and from their home to attend the adult day care program and circles the Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and the Veterans Hospital areas picking up and dropping off riders along a specific route. Driver is required to have a valid New York State Drivers license along with a clean driving abstract. S/He must be able to drive a multi-passenger 14 seat vehicle and be knowledgeable in operating features of assigned vehicle (i.e. lifts, ramps). Preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports using Microsoft programs is a must. In the event of an emergency, the driver must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, to be able to recognize vehicle maintenance needs, and preform minor maintenance tasks (i.e. registration and inspection expiration, cleaning and oil changes).

Requirements

High School Diploma
Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Pick up and deliver envelopes, canisters, etc. as needed
Respond immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and management staff
Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management
Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles
Read and interpret maps and driving direction to plan the most efficient route
Operate ramps and lift devices as needed
Assist passengers, including handicapped, in and out of the vehicle
Maintain accurate up to date records on all forms associated with transportation
Drive Participants to and from their homes or destinations
Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner
