About The Position

As a Patient Flow Manager, you will be responsible for the effective leadership of a team of Patient Observers within a hospital setting. You will lead about 20 associates across multiple local hospitals traveling between locations as needed.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of management or supervisory experience, preferably within a hospital or related healthcare environment
  • Strong patient care, customer service, and/or guest‑relations experience, with the ability to apply these skills in a patient‑focused environment
  • Ability to review data, identify simple trends, and understand how they affect daily operations
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet

Responsibilities

  • Supports multiple hospital sites within the district and travels between locations as needed to meet operational and patient care demands
  • Ensures safe, compliant, and efficient patient coverage by monitoring daily assignments, adjusting staffing as needed, and supporting consistent adherence to established procedures
  • Orients, trains, and develops the Patient Observation team to ensure competency, continuous growth, and consistent delivery of high‑quality care and safety practices
  • Perform regular rounds across multiple shifts to verify proper patient observation practices and adherence to safety protocols
  • Foster strong partnerships with nursing staff and supervisors to drive transparency, enhance collaboration, and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Demonstrates and reinforces proper patient transport principles, infection control practices, and safe body mechanics to ensure staff competency and adherence to high safety standards
  • Understands, develops, and clearly communicates dispatcher logic and transporter workflows
  • Actively monitors and supervises dispatcher performance to ensure efficient, safe, and timely patient transport operations
  • Leads the coordination of Patient Observation services across departments, ensuring seamless communication and workflow alignment
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to Federal, State, JCAHO, OSHA, and CDC
  • Assists unit director in achieving financial objectives, ensures department operates within budget, and assists controlling departmental expenses
  • Additional duties as assigned
