About The Position

WGL - Payroll Administrative Assistant Washington Gas has an immediate opening for a part-time Payroll Administrator for our team based in Springfield, VA! The Payroll Administrator provides transactional and administrative support for payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This role supports employees, internal and external audits, and collaborates with the Payroll Service Provider to maintain efficient payroll operations. This role will work 30 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of related experience in payroll or HR data administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, and peers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform group data updates, exports, imports, and data clean-up activities; research and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Generate, modify, and deliver routine daily, weekly, and monthly reports; respond to basic and intermediate ad hoc data requests.
  • Support user acceptance testing for HRIS updates or enhancements and assist in drafting requirements documentation.
  • Conduct data analysis on HR and Payroll data, including compensation, classification, employment, employee relations, and benefits, as directed.
  • Provide accurate data extracts from HRIS to support internal and external audit requests.
  • Assist and support team members with complex assignments or problem resolution, as directed.
  • Act as the primary contact for assigned functions with external organizations or internal departments; respond to technical administrative inquiries and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Participate in special projects and company initiatives as required.
  • Advise, monitor, and coordinate activities of outsourced payroll providers.
  • Maintain effective external interactions with employees, internal business units, government agencies, courts, and auditors.
