About The Position

A leading academic medical department in Baltimore is seeking a seasoned Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations for a high-impact, fast-paced clinical and administrative environment. This is a pivotal role supporting over 100 physicians and clinical staff, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing during a period of organizational transformation. As the department transitions from a legacy system to Oracle Quantum (go-live February 2026), this role offers a unique opportunity to help shape and optimize payroll processes in a modern cloud-based system. The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong leadership instincts, and a proactive mindset to support both day-to-day operations and long-term improvements. Key Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 100+ physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Manage complex payroll scenarios including shift differentials, variable compensation models, and state system integrations. Serve as the department’s primary liaison with internal HR and Finance teams, as well as external stakeholders. Support onboarding of new clinical staff, ensuring accurate payroll setup and system access. Play a key role in the department’s transition from PeopleSoft to Oracle Quantum, including testing, validation, and training. Collaborate with leadership to implement process improvements and ensure audit readiness. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional payroll regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or large-scale organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday, or similar).
  • Experience with complex payroll structures, including shift differentials and multi-entity or state payrolls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead processes and influence cross-functional teams without direct reports.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • CPP certification preferred but not required.
