About The Position

This position supports FDOT by coordinating and administering utility, access, drainage, and special use permit to ensure compliance with Department standards and regulations. The role conducts inspections, reviews plans, and collaborates with stakeholders to promote safe, efficient, and compliant work within the transportation right-of-way.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the access management requirements
  • Knowledge of the utility accommodations guide
  • Knowledge of the engineering design, drainage and construction of these operations
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet software, and electronic mail
  • Skills in the use of engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments
  • Skills in speaking, negotiation and dealing with the public and contractors.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data
  • Ability to perform technical engineering inspections
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate engineering information effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
  • This position requires a valid Class “E” driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy.
  • To be considered for employment, applicants must meet the qualifications outlined in Title 49 CFR Part 391.11.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor to coordinate plans and construction review processes.
  • Coordinate the Utility Permits ensuring compliance with Department procedures, Florida Administrative Code Rules and the Department's Utility Accommodation Manual.
  • Prepares and processes permit related information.
  • Assist and coordinate with the supervisor in the operations of all Access and Drainage Permits ensuring compliance with Department Procedures, Florida Administrative Code Rules and the Department's Utility Accommodation Manual.
  • Makes routine inspections of permitted sites to ensure work is done safely and in accordance with the permit requirements.
  • Assist in all other miscellaneous permits.
