About The Position

Summary of role: As a Pharmacy Buyer, you will be responsible for procuring and managing specialty pharmaceuticals, maintaining general drug inventory, including for automated dispensing systems, and overseeing shipping, receiving, and logistics operations. Requirements

  • Knowledge of best practices in supply chain logistics, including inventory turnover, order fulfillment, and distribution.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, particularly in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical products, including generic and brand names, therapeutic classes, and federal and state regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with vendors, pharmacists, and other team members.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports to management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods throughout the day.
  • By May 2026, all pharmacy technicians and support staff are required to obtain either a Pharmacy Technician Trainee license or a Pharmacy Technician license issued by the state of Pennsylvania. Employees holding a Trainee license must upgrade to a Technician license before the expiration of their Trainee license. For further information, please consult the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute knowledge and be part of setup of the new mail order pharmacy inventory system.
  • Supply and drug inventory management for all pharmacy operations including automated dispensing systems.
  • Management of shipping and receiving processes, including cold chain logistics for temperature-sensitive medications.
  • Coordinate with internal and third-party logistics vendors for timely order pickup and delivery.
  • Submit and receive daily inventory purchase orders via pharmacy management and automation software.
  • Place stock in designated areas.
  • Utilize industry best practices for stock rotation and reverse logistics.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze inventory trends, demand forecasting, and supply chain metrics to optimize inventory levels and reduce waste.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
