About The Position

This Full-time Pharmacy Buyer position, located at the James Stockman Cancer Center (Infusion) will work 80 hours bi-weekly Monday - Friday, from 7a - 3:30p. Job Summary: The pharmacy buyer plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication management. This position is responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of medications and related supplies. Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior. Essential Functions: Medication Procurement & Inventory Management Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications Place and track medication orders with wholesalers, manufacturers, and specialty distributors. Monitor backorders, shortages, and allocation changes; communicate updates to pharmacy leadership and clinical teams. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to medication storage, handling, and documentation. Adhering to internal purchasing processes including preparing purchase orders and checking package slips invoices for accuracy. Reporting & Data Management Run routine and ad-hoc reports related to inventory levels, usage trends, purchasing activity, and cost analysis. Support budget monitoring by identifying variances, high-cost items, and opportunities for optimization. Maintain accurate electronic records in pharmacy information systems, inventory platforms, and EMR module (as applicable). Medication Preparation Assistance Assist with medication preparation during peak workload periods or staffing shortages. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Requirements

  • Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy information systems and basic computer skills (including MS Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced highly regulated environment with attention to detail.
  • National pharmacy technician certification preferred.
  • Registered Maryland Board of Pharmacy Technician required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oncology or sterile compounding preferred.
