About The Position

George Walton Academy (GWA) provides challenging instruction, engaging experiences, and global perspectives designed to inspire lives of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and purpose. GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 62 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta. George Walton Academy currently seeks a full-time Physical Education Teacher (Lower School and/or Middle School). A PE Teacher is responsible for educating students about physical fitness, sports, health, and wellness. The teacher plans and leads activities that help students develop physical skills, teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyle habits. The ideal candidate will not only be able to teach PE daily but will also coach multiple varsity sports throughout the Athletics Department.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field.
Teaching certification or license (as required).
Knowledge of physical fitness training and sports rules.
CPR and First Aid certification
Strong leadership and classroom management skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire students.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of injury prevention and safety procedures.
Organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with school curriculum standards.
Teach students a variety of sports, exercises, and physical activities.
Promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits.
Assess and monitor student progress in physical development and participation.
Ensure student safety during all physical activities and use of equipment.
Organize and supervise games, drills, and recreational activities.
Maintain gym equipment and ensure facilities are safe and organized.
Encourage inclusion and participation of all students regardless of skill level.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student development.
Communicate with parents about student progress and physical health development.
