About The Position

The Reserves & Planning Analyst serves as a key technical integrator across reserves, planning, and asset development, responsible for the integrity, consistency, and auditability of reserves data, forecasts, and supporting analyses. This role owns reserves data QC and reporting workflows across systems and ensures alignment between reserves, planning, and operational datasets. The analyst partners closely with development teams, operations, finance, accounting, land, and third party auditors, while also supporting broader planning and economic evaluations. This position offers growth into deeper technical, economic, and engineering responsibilities based on experience and business needs. This role is expected to continuously challenge the status quo by designing high fidelity modeling, automation, and analytical tools that deliver actionable insight and accuracy. The position drives a continuous improvement cycle through deeper understanding of key value drivers, rigorous analysis, and advanced visualizations that materially improve decision making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Technology or related STEM discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in upstream oil and gas planning, development, or operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Actenum DSO, Excel, and data or visualization tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Aries and Power BI knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reserves Data Management & Integrity Manage reserves data integrity, QC, and reporting workflows across Aries and other source systems.
  • Lead and support third party reserves audits and prepare technical documentation for auditors and leadership.
  • Maintain detailed audit trails, change logs, and query documentation to support repeatability and auditability.
  • Reporting & Analysis Review and reconcile auditor data to internal views, developing analytical and visualization tools to assess accuracy and identify material variances.
  • Develop tools to analyze actual data from accounting, finance, marketing, and operation systems, transforming inputs into Aries compatible formats.
  • Build and maintain Power BI, Spotfire, and Excel tools to support reserves tracking, r and variance analysis, clearly communicating key drivers through dashboards and supporting analyses.
  • Apply advanced use of Aries and analytics tools to support deeper technical, economic, and planning analysis.
  • Risk, Compliance & Data Governance Manage data integrity with emphasis on production accuracy, ownership completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as a data governance lead across reserves, planning, and asset development by enforcing standards, validation checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Develop data automation, standardized templates, and repeatable workflows for reserves reporting and audits.
  • Standardize reserves evaluation workflows across assets to ensure consistency and transparency.
  • Collaborate with Asset Development, Planning, and Operations teams to assess feasibility, risks, and benefits of implementing new tools, methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Process Improvement & Standardization Continuously improve reserves and planning workflows through automation, system integration, and improved analytical tools.
  • Partner with other teams to support modeling related to capacity constraints, development timing, midstream, and infrastructure considerations as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and evaluate potential impacts on asset performance and reserves methodologies.
