Job Summary As a member of the Plumbing Shop Team and under the general supervision of the Plumbing Shop Lead, the Plumbing Facilities Worker II is responsible for the inspection and testing of safety showers/eyewash stations and for assisting with the inspection of fire hose cabinets and fire extinguishers campus wide. The incumbent is also responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks and for assisting skilled Journeyman trades as needed. Requirements

  • Equivalent to three years of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair, or comparable experience as a trades assistant or laborer with demonstrated proficiency in the required duties.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform inspection and testing of safety showers/eyewash stations.
  • Inspect fire hose cabinets and fire extinguishers campus wide.
  • Work with Journeyman plumber during Preventive Maintenance/Routine and/or Projects.
  • Work with other skilled and semi-skilled workers in accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • Assist in all University functions; respond to emergency situations as required.
