About The Position

About the Opportunity Job Summary: The Wang Lab seeks to advance our understanding of chloroplast function using the model unicellular microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The research in Wang lab aims to provide new targets for bioengineering crops, algae, and other photosynthetic organisms to improve their photosynthesis efficiency and enhance their resistance to environmental stresses while improving yields and sustainability. The successful candidate will focus on the regulatory mechanism of photosynthesis by characterizing the novel protein interactors identified in our comprehensive chloroplast protein-protein interactions network (Wang et al., Cell 2023; Wang et al., in preparation for submission). Qualifications: The ideal postdoc candidate must have a Ph.D. in plant science, molecular biology, or biochemistry and be able to undertake substantially full-time research. The candidate will be highly motivated, have a strong academic record and research experience in characterizing protein functions in plants or microalgae, and have fluent verbal and written English language skills. One or more of the following is a plus: experience with photosynthesis, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii or other microalgae, and confocal microscopy. Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names of three references with phone numbers and emails.
