About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Pre-Production Launch Intern is responsible for supporting pre-production launch activities for new automotive glass products under the guidance of the Pre-Production Launch Coordinator and Program Manager. This role ensures accurate component tracking, build preparation, and documentation support for pre-production and trial events, supporting the organization in achieving successful customer launches and smooth transition to production.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • Junior or Senior preferred.
  • 0–1 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or automotive environment (internship or co-op experience preferred).
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
  • English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to manufacturing operations, new product launches, or automotive OEM environments.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-production launch activities across multiple phases of the Magna Product Delivery Process (PDP), including component preparation, build coordination, and documentation support.
  • Assist with tracking engineering and manufacturing Bills of Material (eBOM/mBOM) and component availability for pre-production build events.
  • Help coordinate material preparation, labeling, packaging, and staging for internal and external build events (DV, PV, trial builds, burst builds, and customer events).
  • Support cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Materials, and Packaging during build planning and execution.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, storing, and tracking pre-production components and assemblies in designated engineering or build areas.
  • Support documentation creation and updates related to manufacturing cells, build events, and launch readiness.
  • Participate in manufacturing floor activities to observe processes, identify issues, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
