We are looking for a Lab Productivity Pre‑Sales Application Scientist who is passionate about laboratory automation, analytical workflows, and the impact on customers to join our technical sales organization. In this highly visible role, you will partner with customers and sales teams to architect, validate, and deploy automation‑enabled laboratory solutions that connect liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, software, and digital technologies into seamless, end‑to‑end workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how modern laboratories operate—helping customers achieve higher throughput, improved reproducibility, and greater operational efficiency. As a trusted technical advisor and workflow expert, you will: Serve as the subject‑matter expert for lab productivity and automation‑enabled workflows, integrating instrumentation, robotics, software, and digital solutions. Analyze customer laboratory processes and productivity goals to design optimized, automation‑ready workflows tailored to their needs. Translate complex technical and data‑driven insights into clear, compelling customer value propositions. Partner closely with sales colleagues to support opportunity qualification, account planning, and technical closure. Drive solution adoption and pull‑through across automation, instrumentation, sample preparation, and software portfolios. Represent the voice of the customer, providing feedback that informs future workflow, product, and solution development. Deliver engaging technical presentations and demonstrations for customer meetings, workshops, conferences, and internal sales forums. Maintain strong awareness of competitive automation and productivity solutions, clearly articulating Agilent’s differentiated value. This role is based on‑site at one of Agilent’s Centers of Excellence, located in: Boston, MA Little Falls, DE Wood Dale, IL You will collaborate closely with application scientists, automation specialists, and sales teams to design, demonstrate, and deliver automation‑enabled laboratory workflows. Regular travel across North America is required to support customer engagements, on‑site demonstrations, workshops, and technical meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Hands‑on laboratory experience with analytical workflows, including exposure to laboratory automation, liquid chromatography (LC), LC/MS, or productivity‑focused laboratory operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, customer‑focused solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within North America.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or implementing automated laboratory workflows in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, ADME, or DMPK laboratory environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation platforms and digital laboratory solutions.
  • Prior experience in a pre‑sales, field application scientist, or technical customer‑facing role.
  • Working knowledge of LC, LC/MS, or related analytical technologies.
