As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role our customers success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs. In this role, you will directly contribute to the Advanced Process Development team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics or related field with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment; comfortable with gowning and operating process tools.
  • Background in semiconductor deposition or etch processes (through research or industry experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low-GWP process chemistries, environmental impact mitigation, or gas chemistry evaluation is a plus.
  • Highly focused and detail-oriented; able to maintain process discipline in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results under pressure.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize advanced deposition and etch processes for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Evaluate and qualify new low–global warming potential (GWP) chemistries for deposition and etch applications.
  • Perform film and material characterization (e.g., thickness, refractive index, composition, morphology, electrical properties) to assess process performance.
  • Analyze data, identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and design experiments (DoE) to improve process capability and performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and process documentation; communicate progress and risk to management and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with hardware engineering, chemistry suppliers, and metrology teams to integrate process improvements.

Benefits
