About The Position

In this position, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our operations by spearheading transformative projects that enhance safety, optimize efficiency, and position us as an industry leader in logistics automation. The Logistics Automation Engineer is responsible for leading and/or supporting: New process development in the areas of material storage and conveyance, inventory management, transportation, etc. AIV Projects (Automated Industrial Vehicle) Logistics process automation (De-pallatizing, Palletizing, Auto forklift, Auto truck load, etc…) Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) Facility planning Simulation The position is a part of NAPIC (North America Production Innovation Center) team working out of DMTN Maryville facility, and will report to a Manager located at Maryville, TN.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree or higher in Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (includes co-op experience)
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent analytical, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined cross-functional teams
  • Ability to successfully manage several tasks/projects at once, and to prioritize as necessary
  • Ability to develop and closely follow schedules and due dates
  • Desire to learn and master new methods and technology
  • Willingness to develop, maintain, and strengthens partnerships inside or outside the organization to drive the success of the team
  • Ability to think 'outside the box' to develop clever, unique solutions to problems
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing, complex work requirements, tasks, and environments where there are limited precedents

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate innovative technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) to improve labor and space efficiency
  • Develop specifications, installation and training plans for new equipment and/or material-handling systems
  • Manage logistics projects with internal/external customers & contractors including the following activities: project leading, budgetary planning, quotation, procurement, design review, and implementation.
  • Follow all safety standards and protocols in accordance with DENSO’s requirements and industry best practices, including Contractor Safety 
  • Design and optimize warehouse facility layouts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Logistics, Logistics Maintenance, NAITS/IoT, SHE, Facilities, Purchasing, LEI, and M&T teams to integrate new technologies and ensure seamless implementation
  • Collaborate and align with regional companies in NA (NSR, SSR, MxSR) and globally as required 
  • Assess the environmental impact and/or energy efficiency of logistics activities
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials as requested 
  • Perform other responsibilities as required by business need
